Article 1: General Introduction
This is a website run by Havilah Trust which was formed 23 years ago to engage in the application of Christian truth to the needs of Community – particularly in the areas of Education and Justice (College and Court Programmes). Also through the setting up of a community counseling house in West Auckland.
The original 4 trustees had all been workers together over many years in the United Maori Mission – an interdenominational work spanning rural and urban re-locating Maori. Havilah was seen by us as an arm of the Christian Church, reaching right into the changing realities of human experience, whereby our Christianity was kept relevant to the world around us.
Increasingly we have come to share with many Christians worldwide a concern at the occurrence of change within the Church as the Body of Jesus in that world – changes that serve to undermine the ability to transform that world in accordance with the revealed purpose of GOD.
A gathering movement of change in the world-wide Church shows clearly the urgency of need for Christians to regain clarity of light on the Goal of GOD and the strategy of its achievement, that is directive to our advance. ‘In thy Light we see light’ (Ps 36,9).
We practise joyful worship of the GOD who has delivered us out of ‘Egypt’s’ ensnaring bondage, only to lose our way to the goal of that deliverance. We bog down into wilderness years of wandering, from which we expect that we will have direct access to heaven.
For us, the crossing of Jordan has shifted from the passage into promised inheritance to the passage through death into the promise of paradise. Which after all is not really so very different to the belief of Muslim terrorists who anticipate their direct arrival into the paradise of their rewards for destruction and death.
This is in spite of the fact that Christians weren’t brought out of bondage by salvation to be the manna–fed nomads of a desert existence, any more than the Israelites were.
So where are we in relation to the baptism into the cloud of water-cycle guidance to the goal as the people of established Kingdom?
The establishment of Kingdom of GOD in Earth-world is then conveniently shifted onto the divine responsibility to return Christ for the subduing of nations to his kingdom claim. This is in the nature of a total shift of responsibility from us to him, and thereby raises the question of what our partnership in the everlasting Covenant is actually all about.
Our doctrines have become rationalisations that bring us into line with this world-view, creating our comfort zone of ‘waiting for the Coming’. We see no need to be caught up into the restored vision of the heavenly viewpoint on the Return of the Lord, so that we may have the light in which to labour and wage the Kingdom conflict.
From areas of individual ministry and in growing conviction by the Word as illumined by the Holy Spirit, it has seemed both good and necessary for us to join with others by the networking pathways of electronic communication.
